SCWCA encourages attendance at national Women's Caucus for Art (WCA) conferences and sponsors local symposiums. Local SCWCA Symposiums offer women the opportunity to expand their thinking and participate in provocative discussions with many other visual arts professionals. Panels are organized by member art historians, curators, writers, and administrators to increase the dialogue in the Southern California art community about issues of concern to women and people of color. This reinforces the educational role of the organization and affirms ties to local universities, museums, other arts institutions, and the general public. Recent symposiums include: 2004 - WOMEN MAKING IT IN THE ARTS 2001 - BOLD, YOUNG, AND OLD: WOMEN IN THE ARTS 2000 - The Secret Lives of Women in the Arts: Creating Alternatives and Working the System National WCA Conferences sponsored by the Women's Caucus for Art provides members from all chapters with an occasion to learn, teach, present papers and attend exhibitions, receptions, workshops, and forums at the national level.
