This symposium was held at the University of Southern California on Saturday, October 23, 2004. The two panels presented were organized by Los Angeles arts writer Scarlet Cheng, who moderated the discussion and fielded questions from the audience following presentations by the panelists.

The morning panel included curators from leading art institutions around town. The topic of discussion included how women artists are collected and shown in their venues. This panel featured Connie Butler (Museum of Contemporary Art), Karin Higa (Japanese American National Museum), Christina Ochoa (Self-Help Graphics & Art), and Lynn Zelevansky (Los Angeles County Museum of Art).

The afternoon panel presented talented women artists working in diverse media. They discussed how they came to their careers and how they sustain them. This panel featured Lita Albuquerque, Rebecca Morales, Synthia Saint James, and Alexis Smith.
