Gilah Yelin Hirsch

Artist Studio Visit
Venice, CA
February 8, 2004

Gilah Yelin Hirsch is an internationally known multi-disciplinary artist. She frequently lectures and writes about her work, which has been collected internationally. Her work in the varied media of writing, painting, photography, and video has been inspired and informed by extensive travel, extended solitary sojourns in nature, research and practice in the areas of psychology, psychoneuroimmunology, philosophy, global culture, architecture, and art. She has lectured, published, exhibited, and has had her work collected internationally. Gilah holds the position of Professor of Art at California State University, Dominquez Hills, and resides in Venice, California.

The afternoon began with a fascinating guided tour of Gilah's unique home/studio, which is often visited by art and architecture groups. This is a very special environment which nourishes the heart, the body, and the soul as well as supporting the artistic imagination. After the tour, guests gathered in Gilah's studio and she spoke about her work. The afternoon concluded with a variety of interesting and thought provoking questions from the audience.

Space for this tour and lecture was limited to twenty-five participants, and all twenty five-spaces were filled! There were many positive comments, from members who attended, regarding this very successful and inspiring event.
