PREP THAT PORTFOLIO! will be an informative talk by working artist Richard Bruland on the tips and protocol for creating a strong and professional portfolio for submission, review and presentation. Preparation of both traditional and digital/computer portfolios will be addressed. Samples will be circulated along with a list of resources for supplies, art services and practical workshops. Richard will share his experiences and give advice in choosing the work to include, how to create and maintain a professional presentation, and what not to do at all costs! There will also be some lively discussion on how and when to approach a gallery plus time for questions and answers.
RICHARD BRULAND was born in Lima, Peru, and raised in Geneva, Switzerland. He attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. Bruland is a painter represented by Davis and Cline Gallery in Ashland, Oregon; Pacini Lubel Gallery in Seattle, Washington; and B. Deemer Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky. His work can be seen in Los Angeles at Gallery 825 and Lora Schlesinger Gallery, Bergamot Station. He is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association and Artists’ Matters, Los Angeles. Directions from the Santa Monica Freeway (10) west: Take the Santa Monica (10) Freeway west. Exit at Lincoln Blvd. and turn right. Continue to Santa Monica Boulevard and turn left to 7th St. Park on the street or turn right at 7th St. to access the parking structure under the library. The parking structure rate is 50 cents for every 30 minutes. Once inside the library, ask the attendant at the Information Desk how to get to the Community Meeting Room on the 2nd floor. |
